  • What is Train To Tend?
    • Train to Tend is an exciting new training program on responsible sales practices for personnel in recreational cannabis stores available online.
  • Who created Train To Tend?
    • Train To Tend was produced and is owned by Klein Buendel, Inc., a woman-owned business in Golden, Colorado. Klein Buendel creates programs to improve public health based on the latest research and using the latest technology.
  • Who sells Train To Tend?
    • Train To Tend is marketed and sold by Avid Will LLC.
  • How does this training work?
    • The Train to Tend training is divided into modules, starting first with an introduction. Each module contains information presented by a host in videos, simulations, and text. Each module finishes with a quiz over the information in the module. There is a final exam over all of the information in Train To Tend at the end of the last module. When all quizzes and the final exam are passed, a certificate is provided by the Train to Tend website that you can save, email, or print.
  • What are the benefits of the training?
    • Train To Tend is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Colorado, Washington State and Oregon.
    • The training is compatible with most mobile devices, including tablet computers and smartphones.
    • Progress is tracked throughout the training and you can start and stop as you need without having to repeat activities.
    • The training was designed with the users in mind. It has a modern design and provides a high-quality user experience.
    • A team of researchers, industry specialists, and regulators worked together to ensure this training was accurate, fit expectations of the industry, and complied with rules and regulations of your state.
    • In Colorado, having all staff complete a Responsible Vendor Program may be a mitigating factor if the State Licensing Authority is considering imposing penalties or fines for violations or infractions upon your store.
  • What information is covered in the training?
    • Train To Tend covers information required by your state, as well as information that are best practices for responsible sales of recreational cannabis. The topics include state laws on recreational cannabis sales, how to thoroughly card customers, the health effects of cannabis (Colorado only), how to identify and manage intoxicated customers, and rules of the trade.
  • What is special about this training?
    • Train to Tend is delivered entirely online. It is guided by a video host and provides information in interactive simulations and plain text. The simulations and learning activities give you a chance to observe and practice the responsible sales methods taught in the training.
  • Is this training available in Spanish?
    • No, Train to Tend is only offered in English at this time.
  • Is this program approved by my state?
    • For Colorado: Yes, Klein Buendel and Train To Tend are designated by the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) as an approved Responsible Vendor Program (RVP).
    • For Oregon: Train To Tend covers topics identified by the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) as part of responsible sales practices.
    • For Washington State: The Train To Tend training was reviewed by regulators at the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) to make sure it is accurate.
  • How long does the training usually take to complete?
    • Train To Tend takes about 3 hours, on average, from registration to completion of the final exam. Remember, you can start and stop the training and when you return later, the training starts again where you left off.
  • If I take this training, when do I get my certificate?
    • A copy of your certificate is available online when you complete Train to Tend. You can download and save it, email it, or print it right from the Train To Tend website.
  • How long is the certificate earned from this training valid?
    • In Colorado: The training is valid for 2 years.
    • In Oregon: There are currently no rules about the length of time the certificate is valid. Check back with this website to see if these states update their regulations.
    • In Washington State: There are currently no rules about the length of time the certificate is valid. Check back with this website to see if these states update their regulations.
  • What if I finished the training but have lost my certificate?
    • We understand this happens. Please click here to contact technical support to get instructions on how to get a replacement certificate.
  • What devices can I use to complete Train To Tend?
    • Train To Tend is compatible with desktop computers, laptop computers, tablet computers, and most smartphones. If possible, the Train To Tend team recommends that you complete the training on a desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet computer for the optimal training experience.

      If you are experiencing any technical issues with your device while trying to use Train To Tend, be sure to check that your device is running on an operating system and/or internet browser that is compatible with Train To Tend.

      Based on the type of device you are using, proper specifications for operating systems and internet browsers are listed below:

      Desktops/Laptops/Tablets:
      1. Google Chrome 18 or newer
      2. Firefox 24 or newer (closed caption support 31 or higher)
      3. Safari 6 or newer
      4. Internet Explorer 9 or newer (closed caption support 10 or higher)
      5. Microsoft Edge 12 or newer
      Smartphones:
      1. iOS 7 or newer
      2. Android 4.1 or newer (closed caption support 4.4 or higher)
      3. Chrome for Android 53 or newer
  • What if my current training page is not loading or the video is taking too long to buffer?
    1. If at any time a training page or video is not loading, refresh the page by clicking the refresh button on your browser by pressing the F5 key on the keyboard if you are on a PC, or Command + R key on a Mac. You will not have to start the training over if you refresh your page; Train To Tend will save your place for you.
    2. If your problems persist, please try clearing your browser's history. For most browsers, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac) to open the appropriate menu. If clearing your browser history does not work, follow the instructions below based on what browser you are using:
    Google Chrome
    1. In the browser bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
    2. At the top of the "Clear browsing data" window, click Advanced.
    3. Select the following:
      • Browsing history
      • Download history
      • Cookies and other site data
      • Cached images and files
      • From the "Time range" drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select All time.
    4. Click CLEAR DATA.
    5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open a new browser window.
    Mozilla Firefox
    1. From the History menu, select Clear Recent History. If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.
    2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
    3. Next to "Details", click the down arrow to choose which elements of the history to clear; to clear your entire cache, select all items.
    4. Click Clear Now.
    5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.
    Microsoft Edge
    1. In the top right, click the Hub icon (looks like star with three horizontal lines).
    2. Click the History icon (looks like a clock), and then select Clear history.
    3. Select Browsing history, then Cookies and saved website data, and then Cached data and files. Click Clear.
    4. After the "All Clear!" message appears, exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.
    Apple Safari
    Safari 8 or newer
    1. From the Safari menu, select Clear History and Website Data...
    2. Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History.
    3. Go to Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.
    Safari on an iPad or iPhone
    1. Go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.
    2. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari will not change your AutoFill information.
  • What forms of payment does Train To Tend accept?
    • Train To Tend accepts all major credit (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) and debit cards.
    • If you are using a refillable debit card that is not issued by your bank (e.g., Target Mastercard, Walmart American Express card, Visa Refillable Debit Card, etc.), be sure to read all of the terms and conditions on the card before using one to purchase Train To Tend. These cards sometimes have hidden transaction fees and other use guidelines that could prevent you from successfully purchasing Train To Tend.

  • How do I receive a refund?
    • Train To Tend does offer refunds in some cases. How and when Train To Tend will refund customers is outlined below:
    • If you have registered and paid for Train To Tend, you are eligible for a full refund as long as you meet both of the following conditions:
      1. You registered and paid for Train To Tend less than 90 days ago.
      2. AND

      3. You registered and paid for Train To Tend, and have not attempted the Module 1 quiz.
    • If you believe that you meet both of these conditions that make you eligible for a refund, please click here for technical support.
      However, if more than 90 days have passed since you first registered and paid for Train To Tend, you are no longer eligible for a refund. Or, if you have registered and paid for Train To Tend, and you have attempted the Module 1 quiz, you are also no longer eligible for a refund.
